Avolta officially opens new stores at Kualanamu International Airport

Avolta has officially inaugurated its new duty free retail space at Kualanamu International Airport in Indonesia.
As reported, Avolta secured a contract for two stores – one departures and one arrivals – at the location in 2024. The airport serves as the main gateway to the city of Medan and to North Sumatra.
Pictured left to right at the official opening ceremony are: Charles TH. Situmorang, Head of Domestic Trade Development and Trade Order Division, Department of Industry and Trade; Rudi Hermawan, Head of PKC IV Section, Kualanamu Customs Office; Muhamad Rafik, Head of Facilities Division, Regional Office of Customs and Excise North Sumatra; Thomas Galet, Country General Manager Indonesia at Avolta; Dominique Duperray, Operation Manager at PT Dufrindo Internasional; Suantar Samsurya, Director of PT Dufrindo Internasional; and Micko Cendana, Manager of Business Development, PT Angkasa Pura Aviasi.
“We are delighted to open this new store with our partners from Angkasa Pura Aviasi,” noted Galet. “Kualanamu International Airport plays an important role in Indonesia’s aviation network and we are proud to support its development. I thank our partners for their trust and our exceptional store team who have worked with passion to bring this space to life for travellers passing through Medan.”
Avolta has been operating in Indonesia for more than a decade, and manages around 50 stores in the country. The initial agreement marked Avolta’s third location in Indonesia – and its first in Medan – expanding its presence beyond its existing outlets at the country’s two main international gateways: Jakarta’s Soekarno–Hatta International Airport and Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.
