BIAL is looking to create an airport omnichannel commerce experience.

Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) has partnered with technology driven platform Ace Turtle to create a one of its kind” airport omnichannel commerce experience for passengers at Kempegowda International Airport.

The first airport in India to offer such an experience, BIAL said its mission was to develop a future-ready digital retail solution for a more engaging passenger experience. The aim is to improve the traveller’s journey, create new revenue opportunities and realise operational efficiencies through an “agile approach” for BIAL and its business partners.

This omnichannel experience enables passengers to buy online or in the air and pick-up, ship or deliver to the destination of choice.

As part of the development, passengers will be able avail a click and collect service. This will enable them to pre-book food from the airport app or website and collect at restaurants/food outlets at the airport.

BUY ONLINE

They will also be able to buy online and collect at the Airport. Passengers can order products from their favourite brands and choose to collect them at arrivals/departures collection-points.

Additionally, they can buy via kiosks and either collect products from the designated airport area or have them delivered at home.

Finally, busy passengers can buy products online, which might not even be available at the airport and collect them in arrivals or departures at Smart Collection Points.

Bangalore International Airport Limited Managing Director and CEO Hari Marar said: “At Kempegowda International Airport, the presence of leading national and international brands creates a holistic shopping experience for millions of passengers travelling for business or leisure. As we move towards the next phase of our digital journey and ensure an unparalleled experience for our customers, retail will play a critical role in shaping customer experience through interactive digital solutions.

“Working with a leading omnichannel enabler such as Ace Turtle will help us keep pace with today’s digital customers who look to engage with their favorite brands through multiple touch-points. This partnership will go a long way in delivering seamless retail experience for brands and create greater value for our passengers”.

OMNICHANNEL PLATFORM

BIAL also indicated Ace Turtle’s omnichannel platform will play a critical role in shaping the digital roadmap for retail brands associated with BIAL and develop tailor-made solutions to increase revenue for retailers through optimisation of existing retail touch points.

Ace Turtle CEO Nitin Chhabra added: Travel retail in India is booming, making airports a potential revenue generator for many brands and retailers. Over the past few years, the airport has emerged as one of the fastest growing in the world and has created brand new opportunities for retailers to reach out millions of premium customers travelling for business or leisure.

“We are excited about joining BIAL in its digital transformation journey, helping develop a seamless retail experience for travelers. We are confident that our platform will play a significant role in shaping omni-channel transformation of retail brands associated with Bengaluru International Airport”.

Kempegowda International Airport is currently the busiest airport in South India and served 25.04 million passengers in FY 2017-2018.
