Brisbane Airport unveils new dining vision for international travellers
By Naomi Chadderton |
Brisbane Airport is redefining its international terminal experience with the launch of 13 new and refurbished food and beverage outlets as part of a wider $5 billion transformation project that promises more flavour, more choice and a stronger sense of place for travellers.
The major refresh marks a new chapter for Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC), as it looks to elevate the passenger experience and better showcase local hospitality brands alongside global favourites.
From local heroes to global icons
After a period of limited dining availability due to construction works, international travellers are set to enjoy an expanded culinary line-up featuring both homegrown names and world-renowned chains.
Among the new additions is Brisbane coffee specialist Bellissimo, bringing its award-winning blends and local produce to the Departures Hall. Long-time favourite Windmill & Co returns with a modernised look and a new menu designed to celebrate Brisbane’s vibrant dining scene.
For the first time, McDonald’s, Hungry Jack’s, and KFC will all serve passengers in the International Terminal, joining an array of new eateries such as Manna, a Mediterranean-inspired lobby bar, and health-focused grab-and-go concepts Liv Eat and Sushi Jiro. Other highlights include Noodles XO, an Asian kitchen with a creative twist, a brand-new bar concept, and Merlo Café, another Brisbane institution known for its specialty coffee and local fare.
Introducing The Dining Precinct
A key feature of the redevelopment is the introduction of The Dining Precinct, a vibrant new F&B hub spanning nearly 1,000 square metres. Set to become the airport’s largest restaurant destination, it will showcase a diverse mix of cuisines — from an artisan bakery and gourmet deli to an all-day bar and full-service cocktail and raw bar. Travellers can also expect a curated line-up of Mexican, Asian, and Greek-inspired eateries, making the terminal a true culinary crossroads before departure.
For those touching down in Brisbane, the beloved local brand Kuhl-Cher Café will also open two outlets in the Arrivals Hall, offering its signature brews and laid-back atmosphere to greeting parties and returning travellers alike.
Delivering the next evolution of travel
Scott Norris, Executive General Manager Commercial at Brisbane Airport, said the redevelopment marks a milestone in the evolution of the International Terminal experience. “We’re incredibly excited to unveil brand new food and beverage options for our international passengers,” he explained. “Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a meal before your next holiday, there’s something for everyone. This upgrade is about celebrating the best of Brisbane and giving our customers more of what they love — great food, great coffee, and a great start to their journey.”
The opening of the first new outlet, McDonald’s, is scheduled for late December, with further openings continuing through 2026 and full completion of all 13 venues expected by 2027.
The new F&B portfolio forms part of Brisbane Airport’s $5 billion Future BNE programme, which is also delivering major upgrades to terminal security, passenger screening, and passport control. The redevelopment will nearly double the size of the Lotte Duty Free store and includes the newly opened Flight Centre location in the Departures Hall — the first completed element of the International Terminal transformation.
Brisbane Airport’s International Terminal currently connects to 35 global destinations, with Malaysia Airlines set to resume flights to Kuala Lumpur from 30 November, further expanding its international network.
