CAAS information blitz
By Administrator |
The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has positioned approximately 150 information panels throughout the landside and airside areas at both Changi and Seletar airports to educate passengers on the new security rules that come
into force next Tuesday (May 8).
In addition CAAS says it has produced more than 1.5m information sheets which explain the new rules to passengers and notices in English, Chinese, Japanese and Malay and these have been positioned at each of the 300 check-in counters to remind passengers that liquids/gel items must be packed in containers with a maximum capacity of 100ml each.
These containers are then packed inside resealable transparent plastic bags with a maximum capacity not exceeding one litre – as per the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) guidelines which were circulated to all airports earlier this year.
CAAS' notices also point out that there are no restrictions on the volume of liquid/gels that can be packed in check-in luggage and similarly, no restrictions on duty free items which retailers will pack and seal in tamper evident bags with the receipt clearly displayed.
For passengers who may have a need to repack their items, 16 special counters have been built in the public and transit areas. To assist passengers, some 100 'airport ambassadors' in bright yellow T-shirts will be deployed for at least the first six months after the rules come into effect [Impressive-Ed].
