Cartier says its latest boutique offers an elegant design, luxurious ambience, and unparalleled artistry.

Cartier has expanded its global travel retail network into one of the world’s most prominent travel hubs, Singapore Changi Airport in Singapore, alongside longstanding partner Valiram.

Cartier’s first boutique, located in Terminal 3, features design elements paying homage to the region.

The French luxury goods conglomerate says the expansion of its travel retail footprint fulfils Cartier’s journey to connect with travellers across Europe, Oceania, and Asia.

Four new Cartier boutiques were unveiled in 2023 alone.

Virginie Martignac, Global Travel Retail Director for Cartier, commented: “We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our presence in this vibrant travel hub. It marks an exciting journey of growth for us as we forge deep connections with travellers.

“With each new boutique, Cartier furthers its leadership as the unmissable jewellery retailer and marks another step in driving meaningful change in the travel ecosystem.”

Cartier has established a network of over 20 boutiques in major travel hubs across the world, such as Paris, London, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.

“The opening of this boutique is a testament to Valiram’s longstanding partnership with Cartier and reinforces our shared commitment towards bringing the best of luxury experiences to the fashion and watch community,” said Mukesh Valiram, Executive Director of Valiram.

Valiram added: “We look forward to providing travellers at Changi Airport with an unparalleled shopping experience and inviting them to immerse themselves in the Maison’s exceptional craftsmanship and timeless beauty, through an impressive line-up of watches, jewellery and accessories.”

The shell-like design of the marble floors draws inspiration from the Merlion, a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish, and the official mascot of Singapore.

Valiram is one of Southeast Asia and Oceania’s leading luxury and lifestyle retail specialists, with a presence in Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, operating approximately 500 stores.

The boutique’s façade draws inspiration from many of the symmetrical silhouettes of local landmarks, such as the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple & Museum and the Esplanade, among others.

Conceptually, Cartier hopes its Changi boutique stands as a blend of two contrasting atmospheres of urbanisation and greenery, a choice which it says represents the nature of Singapore as a city.

Incorporated into the signature feature wall, the boutique’s interiors pay tribute to the tropical foliage and architectural features of the local landscape, notably the ‘Super Trees’ and tropical foliage which populate the Gardens by the Bay (pictured below).

Singapore is often referred to as the Lion City, owing to the legend of a Sumatran prince who named a newly found land, Singa Pura (literally Lion City), after spotting a lion on its shores. Image: Gardens by the Bay.

The colour scheme employed throughout the boutique: Cartier champagne, pea green, and copper, pays tribute to the colours and patterns often associated with Peranakan textiles.

The boutique presents a full offering of Cartier’s iconic jewellery and watchmaking collections.

Accessories including leather goods, fragrances and gifts are also made available.

The boutique also provides a bar feature which allows customers to lounge comfortably while exploring the Cartier products on offer.
