Cartier has opened a new boutique at Haikou Meilan Airport, Hainan, with decor inspired by the natural environment
Luxury goods house Cartier has unveiled a new boutique inside the newly opened Terminal 2 at Haikou Meilan International Airport, Hainan.
The store features Cartier’s finest collections and pays homage to the vibrant culture and nature of the island.
Inspired by the moment where the earth meets the sky, the colour palate of the store builds in lush greens, vivid blues, and a balance of urban and natural landscapes.
Geometric patterns and rich textures are run throughout the decor, inside an exterior inspired by Hainan’s undulating waters.
A golden wall patina with a foliage motif draws on the island’s lush forests, while a green fluted stone wall references the dynamism of the city.
The store includes accessories and fragrances, along with a bridal area clad in a panther fresco, with spots symbolising the brand.
Wood marquetry throughout the space references Cartier’s reverence and respect for traditional craftsmanship.
A VIP lounge gives prestige clients a warm, organic space that can be personalised to meet their needs. The space features vegetal motifs, gold nets and golden seating with geometric and floral cushions.

“We are pleased to unveil our new boutique in Haikou, the heart of Hainan’s dynamic development, at Meilan International Airport,” said Virginie Martignac, Cartier Global Travel Retail Director.
“The new opening bolsters Cartier’s strategy to offer an elevated luxury shopping experience at the airport. We look forward to sharing Cartier’s refined interpretation of this beautiful island, the Maison’s iconic collections and high-end experiences with travelling clients in the year ahead.”
Earlier this month, Cartier showcased its latest boutique at new-look Paris Paris Charles de Gaulle Terminal 1.
