Singapore Changi Airport handled a total of 5.27m passengers in August 2017, up 7% on the same month last year, with traffic growth reported across all regions.
The Changi Airport Group (CAG) pointed to double-digit growth both to and from South Asia, Africa and the Americas, with the league table in the top 10 markets led by India (+18%), China (+11%) and Malaysia (+11%).
THREE FAST GROWING ROUTES…
In addition, Guangzhou, Penang and Taipei were the three fastest-growing routes for the month within the top 20. For the eight months between January-August 2017, Changi Airport handled a total of 41.1m passengers, corresponding to a 5.7% increase in the year-to-date.
Meanwhile, in ‘other highlights’, CAG management pointed to new services, with Singapore Airlines’ four new weekly services to Brisbane commencing back on 22 August, bringing the total number of weekly services to 28. China Eastern Airlines also launched a new four-times weekly service to Hangzhou via Quanzhou on 25 August.
As for new stores and restaurants, CAG said that in the public areas, one of Singapore’s leading mobile network operators StarHub has opened its first 24-hour lounge-concept outlet at Terminal 3 Basement 2, offering a full range of services.
These include 24-hour broadband, mobile and cable TV services, plus business services such as corporate fibre broadband installation for airport tenants and partners.
