Changi Airport brings back iShopathon as site reports +93% rise in customers

Changi Airport’s iShopChangi.com has brought back its iShopathon campaign, which offers airport travellers and Singapore residents up to 60% off over 19,000 products, plus livestream events, flash deals and weekly giveaways.

First launched in August last year, iShopathon is making a comeback with five weeks of special deals; on top of already tax and duty-absorbed products. From now until 10 August 2021, shoppers can take advantage of site-wide discounts with up to 60% off on an expanded assortment of products and brands, an engaging and interactive ‘shoppertainment’ experience through extended livestreams with popular personalities, and weekly giveaways.

Previously available only to travellers, iShopChangi shifted its focus to non-travelling Singapore-based residents during the pandemic last year, offering tax and duty-absorbed prices, including premium and travel-exclusive items, with home deliveries made within three to five working days.

Collection at Jewel Changi Airport is also a new service, allowing shoppers to physically collect their purchases from L1 Jewel Concierge Counter as soon as two working days from date of order.

SURGE IN ISHOPCHANGI CUSTOMERS

Changi Airport Group saw more new customers coming on board iShopChangi (+93% YoY) following the inaugural iShopathon in 2020, despite the dip in air travel and passenger traffic.

During the campaign period, participants engaged in weekly interactive livestream sessions featuring various product categories such as electronics, beauty, and wines & spirits to grab limited-time promotion codes and exclusive bundle deals released live on-air.

Over the past few months, iShopChangi has expanded its range of merchandising with brand partners such as Skin Inc, Dyson, and Mayer. Popular wines & spirits labels traditionally available only for travel retail such as Johnnie Walker, Baileys, Glenmorangie, and Japanese sake, Dassai, have also been made available to non-travellers.

In addition, iShopathon scooped two accolades at the recent MARKies Awards, scoring Gold for being the most creative in the digital category, along with a Bronze award for its creative excellence in the experiential category.

This year’s iShopathon will feature two main livestream sessions on wines & spirits, to be produced jointly with Singaporean YouTube channel Night Owl Cinematics. Shoppers will be able to tune in via @iShopChangi Facebook and Instagram channels on 8 July and 5 August from 9pm to 11pm to join Food King hosts Aiken and Nina, actress and TV personality Xenia, comedian Royce Lee, and other popular personalities as they share and taste exclusive releases.

The first episode will see the introduction of wine label, Penfolds, with tastings featuring the Bin 150 and the travel-exclusive Cellar Reserve range, followed by cognac label, Martell, and whiskies from Royal Salute and Longmorn; while episode two will take viewers on a tasting trip across the world with Colombian-aged rum label, Dictador, Scottish Single Malt, BenRiach, and America’s bestselling whiskey, Jack Daniel’s.
