Changi celebrates Christmas with Angry Birds
By Charlotte Turner |
A giant space shuttle in the form of a ‘Super Red Bird’ from the Angry Birds Space game, takes centre stage at Changi Airport’s Terminal 3 Departure Hall, to celebrate Christmas at the airport from 16 November.
Angry Birds is a hugely popular games franchise, which is played across all multimedia devices all over the world. Measuring 13 metres wide and three storeys high, the giant spacecraft is the centerpiece of Changi Airport’s festive celebrations this year-end season.
Until 6 January 2013, Changi Airport’s terminals will be decked out in space-inspired decorations, all based on the Angry Birds Space theme, including an indoor activity lounge for children, handicraft workshops, plush toy giveaways and music performances.
At the event area, visitors can pose for photos with Angry Birds Space augmented reality markers and get their photos taken by event photographers, for the creation of their own animated Angry Birds e-greeting Christmas card.
As a year-end holiday special, just for children, the area at Terminal 3’s Departure Checkin Row 11 has been transformed into an Angry Birds Space Lounge offering various play activities for kids aged three to 12 years old.

These include ‘Space Adventure’ – a space-themed indoor playground with obstacles, slides and a ball pit; ‘Out to Space’ featuring trampolines; ‘Bouncy Balls’ – a toddler activity area with big bouncy balls and inflatable catapults; and ‘Cool Zone’ – a multimedia station, where fans can enjoy the Angry Birds Space game on large touch-screen monitors.
A full set of all seven Angry Birds Space characters are available with a minimum spend of S$60 in Changi Airport’s public areas (S$120 in supermarkets), and S$150 in the transit areas. One new character will be launched for redemption at the public areas each week.
