China moves into line…

The General Administration of Civil Aviation (CAAC) has announced that it is to introduce new regulations limiting passengers at Chinese airports to carrying no more than one litre of liquids in their hand luggage.
Moving into line with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) guidelines the CAAC says that all international passengers' liquids carried in hand luggage must be in containers with a capacity of no more than 100ml and it will introduce the new measures ‘as soon as possible’. Hong Kong International Airport introduced the new rules yesterday.
The CAAC has already been operating the measures for passengers flying to the US but they are now being extended to all other international passengers. In a statement the CAAC has also advised passengers buying duty free liquid goods to keep their receipts and ask for suitable plastic bags to hold their purchases, and not open them during the flight.
Meanwhile, the South China Post reports that Hong Kong International Airport saw a fairly smooth implementation of the new rules yesterday, albeit with a few unhappy passengers. The airport made 100 airport staff available to hand out leaflets advising passengers of the new regulations and what they should do.
