Chow Tai Fook unveils pop-up at cdf Sanya with new collections
By Naomi Chadderton |
Chow Tai Fook has opened a new pop-up boutique at the cdf Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex, presenting a contemporary retail concept rooted in Eastern philosophy and cultural storytelling.
The space, which opened on 11 February 2026, draws inspiration from the traditional concept of harmony between essence and form, expressed through the interplay of circular and square design elements. Beige tones and antique bronze accents create a calm, refined atmosphere that blends modern minimalism with subtle references to heritage craftsmanship.
The pop-up showcases a curated edit of the jeweller’s key collections, including the CTF Rouge Collection and the Joie Collection, both of which reinterpret traditional Chinese symbolism for today’s global luxury consumer.
The Rouge Collection centres on the concept of “福” (blessings and fortune) and the cultural resonance of the colour red. As well as being the brand’s signature hue, red symbolises strength, confidence and prosperity in Chinese culture. The collection combines yellow gold and natural diamonds with red accents, drawing visual inspiration from traditional Chinese window motifs that represent protection and intergenerational love. The result is a series of necklaces, bangles and earrings that fuse cultural heritage with contemporary design codes, positioned to appeal to both gifting shoppers and collectors seeking pieces with deeper meaning.
Alongside Rouge, the Joie Collection continues the narrative through the theme of “喜” (happiness). Inspired by the symbolism of locks as emblems of peace and protection, the collection reimagines the lock as a metaphor for human connection – where one person holds the key to another’s heart. Crafted primarily in pure gold, with selected diamond-set options, the pieces feature intricate detailing influenced by ancient goldsmithing techniques. Certain designs incorporate a rotating mechanism that echoes the movement of antique padlocks, reinforcing the emotional symbolism embedded within each item.
The Joie Collection extends across necklaces, rings, earrings and statement accessories including a crossbody mini pouch, pocket chain and belt, broadening its appeal beyond traditional jewellery formats. The continued use of red accents links the collection aesthetically to Rouge, creating a cohesive visual language across the pop-up space.
For Chow Tai Fook, the Sanya activation reflects a wider strategy of connecting cultural heritage with modern retail theatre. By situating the pop-up within one of Hainan’s most prominent duty free destinations, the brand is targeting both domestic and international travellers seeking meaningful luxury purchases during their visit to the island.
