Chubu Centrair Airport duty free sales hit $148.5m in 7 months of fiscal 2019

Duty free sales at Centrair reached $200.6m in the 10 months ending October.

Central Japan International Airport Company (Centrair) posted duty free sales of ¥16,273m/US$148.5m in the seven months (April – October) of fiscal 2019.

On a 10-month rolling basis between January to October (which includes the last three months of fiscal 2018 covering January – March), duty free sales at Chubu Centrair International Airport in southern Nagoya reached ¥21,985m/$200.6m, TRBusiness was told.

Total sales for the period covering April to October, which includes revenues from ordinary shops, restaurants and duty free, reached ¥25,543m against international passenger volumes of 4,088,295.

As reported, duty free sales in full-year 2018 hit approximately JPY23.9bn ($220.5m).

Recently, the operator announced it is to open a 90sq m Sorano Sakagura specialised liquor duty free shop in January.

Situated near gate 20 in international departures, it will stock Japanese liquors such as Sake, Shōchū and other products.
