CNSC will operate a 178.7sq m duty free store in the Terminal 1 departure hall at Nanchang Changbei International Airport.
The China National Service Corporation for Chinese Personnel Working abroad (CNSC) has been awarded three departures duty free contracts at Nanjing Lukou, Nanchang Changbei and Quanzhou Jinjiang International Airports.
As reported, the company was named preferred bidder for the eight-year 1,500 Nanjing International Airport Terminal 2 duty free concession. China Duty Free Group was the second highest bidder.
Over in Nanchang, CNSC has secured the five-year contract to operate a 178.87sq m duty free store in the Terminal 1 departure hall. The contract is effective from the date the agreement is signed.
Located 28 kilometres from the centre of Nanchang, it is the only international airport in Jiangxi Province. The airport reported international passenger throughout of 900,000 in 2019.
Work is also taking place on a downtown duty free store in Nanchang. This will complete the implementation of the ‘port +downtown’ model in what the company describes as an important city in central China.
QUANZHOU CONTRACT WIN
Elsewhere, CNSC has secured the eight-year duty free concession in Quanzhou. The concession covers a 200sq m duty free store in international departures and will be effective from the date the agreement is signed.
Quanzhou Jinjiang International Airport is located in Quanzhou, Fujian Province. Annual international passenger throughput amounted to 960,000 in 2019. Annual passenger throughput is expected to reach 20 million passengers in 2030.
The most powerful economic city in Fujian Province for the past 21 years, Quanzhou is the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road which is recognised by UNESCO. The Maritime Silk Road is the sea route part of the Belt and Road Initiative, which is a Chinese strategic concept to encourage collaboration across the Silk Road.
The Silk Road primarily refers to the land routes connecting East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Persia, the Arabian Peninsula, East Africa and Southern Europe.
On the Quanzhou contract win CNSC said: “Winning the bid for Quanzhou Airport is a key step in the strategic development of CNSC, which has successfully expanded its business map to the southeast coastal areas of China.”

Annual international passenger throughput at Quanzhou Jinjiang International Airport amounted to 960,000 in 2019.
In other company news, CNSC has been awarded the departures contracts at Longzhou Shuikou port (on the border with Vietnam) and the Pingxiang Friendship Pass. The latter is a key point of political, economical and cultural communication between Vietnam and China, according to the company. CNSC has also secured the Jian Port duty free contract.
News of the planned Longzhou Shuikou port and Pingxiang Friendship Pass departures stores was first reported by TRBusiness back in July.
Pingxiang Youyi and Longzhou Shuikou ports are located in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region of Southern China. Guangxi Zhuang borders Vietnam and the Gulf of Tonkin and became an autonomous region in 1958.
The Guangxi Zhuang government said at the time: “The approval to set up outbound duty free will provide a path for Pingxiang and Longzhou to develop duty free shopping business and improve tourism functions.
“The new duty free businesses will play an important role in reducing consumer’s shopping costs when travelling. They will also bolster consumption and drive the development of industries such as tourism, aviation, accommodation and catering.”
