Airports of Thailand (AoT) has extended support measures to beleaguered concessionaires and tenants at its six international airports until 31 March 2022.

At a Board of Directors meeting today (24 September), AoT resolved to lengthen the period for tenants operating at its airports to receive the 50% discount on state property rents, announced earlier this year. The relief was due to end on 31 December 2020.

The extension also covers in *certain circumstances exemption of office and state property rents, terminal and building service charges, fixed monthly concession charges, parking charges and airline landing charges, or until operations recommence (whichever dates comes first).

Assistance measures for concessionaires and airlines due to Covid-19 are expected to result in a 42% drop in revenue year-on-year in fiscal 2021, but u-turn to a 188% increase year-on-year in fiscal year 2022, AoT previously told the Stock Exchange of Thailand.

EFFECTS ‘STILL BEING FELT’

Last month, AoT was pushed to clarify assistance measures and minimum annual guarantee collection terms for anchor tenant King Power International following amendments to its ten-year contracts due to begin this year.

“Concessionaires and airlines are still being affected by the Covid-19 outbreak due to Thailand’s current air transport restrictions as well as incomplete recovery of both directly and indirectly aviation-related industries, including airlines and concessionaires operated at airports,” read a notice.

*In cases where concessionaires and airlines submit a letter to temporarily suspend their operations or in cases were AoT’s airports are currently closed.
