Dassai sake limited edition tempts tastebuds with Tasa Meng in Taiwan

Taiwan’s Tasa Meng Corporation has launched a new seasonal limited edition sku from Japanese saké brand Dassai.

The liquid, a seasonal special released to coincide with Japan’s flower season, can be found at the travel retailer’s main liquor & tobacco store in North Wing Area D at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Terminal 2.

“This will be another successful launch between our company with Asahi Shuzo,” said Tasa Meng Corporation.

It builds on the success of Japanese rice wine Dassai 23, though the new edition has a lower alcohol concentration.

According to Asahi Shuzo’s website, ‘Dassai’ means ‘otter festival’ in reference to the rituals of otters congregating in nearby rivers in Yamaguchi prefacture that would display fishes they had caught on the shores.

‘Taiwan the Lucky Land’ campaign

In separate but related news, Taiwan launched on 29 April its ‘Taiwan the Lucky Land’ campaign to incentivise foreign travellers and boost tourism spending.

Effective 1 May, overseas visitors have the chance to take part in a lucky draw with 500,000 prizes on offer worth TW$5,000/$163 each.

The campaign, which runs until 30 June, is eligible to foreign independent travellers who hold foreign (non-ROC) passports and are staying in Taiwan between 3-90 days, are not visiting in tour groups and not applying for any tour group-related ROC travel.
