Dewar’s debuts Changi speakeasy pop-up
By Naomi Chadderton |
Dewar’s has partnered with Lotte Duty Free and Changi Airport Group to launch an immersive speakeasy pop-up at Singapore Changi Airport, putting its premium Double Double Collection at the heart of an experiential travel retail activation.
Running in Terminal 3 until 22 September, ‘The Dewar’s Speakeasy — Hidden in Plain Sight’ occupies a 36.3 sqm space between gates 2–4 and marks a first-of-its-kind concept for Changi.
Inspired by traditional speakeasies but reimagined for modern travellers, the Art Deco-style space combines a fully operational cocktail bar with theatrical storytelling, guided whisky discovery, live music and gifting services.
Three brand ambassador roles help bring the concept to life. ‘The Scout’ approaches whisky drinkers outside the activation with a gold-embossed Dewar’s envelope containing a secret invitation and password. Inside, ‘The Host’ provides product recommendations and guides guests through the experience, while ‘The Bartender’ oversees cocktail serves and whisky tastings.
The activation offers several levels of engagement. Travellers can browse the range and enjoy cocktails made using the Dewar’s core portfolio, while those taking part in the theatrical journey are guided through a Double Double back-bar reveal, where red velvet curtains open to unveil the collection. This is followed by a sensory sampling ritual, food pairings and three guided whisky pours.
Live musical performances will also turn the space into an intimate jazz venue at selected times, complemented by roaming sampling throughout the airport concourse.
The Dewar’s Double Double Collection, comprising 20, 26 and 30-year-old expressions, takes centre stage. Dewar’s 15 Year Old and 18 Year Old and the limited-edition Dewar’s Double Agent 16 Year Old are also showcased. A dedicated cocktail menu includes the Dewar’s Highball, alongside Dewar’s Double Double served neat. Premium gifts with purchase and gift-wrapping services are designed to encourage conversion.

Travellers can browse the range and enjoy cocktails made using the Dewar’s core portfolio.
The physical activation is supported by a digital campaign spanning pre-trip programmatic advertising and social media, followed by geotargeted communications and pop-up promotion during the journey to build awareness and drive travellers to the Terminal 3 space.
Darragh Ryan, GTR Marketing Director at Bacardi, said: “Travellers at Changi are time-poor but actively seeking meaningful moments; the perfect gift or a premium treat before take-off. The Dewar’s Speakeasy is built to stop them in their tracks and elevate whisky from product to experience. This isn’t just another retail opportunity; it’s an exclusive, immersive Dewar’s experience that brings theatre, intrigue and premium engagement to a Changi-1st launch, setting a new standard for whisky retail in travel retail, with a clear commercial pathway from curiosity to confident, high-value conversion.”
The Dewar’s Speakeasy opened in July and will remain at Changi Airport Terminal 3 until 16 September 2026.
