Indias two airlines to merge
By Administrator |
India's two main state-owned airlines are to merge in an effort to compete more effectively with private and low-cost carriers.
It was announced yesterday that Air India and Indian Airlines will merge in April without any job losses and this should result in an annual saving of R.5bn ($113m) across both airlines.
The Indian Government said that it now hopes that the merged airlines will grow to become one of the world's top 20 carriers.
