DFS Group reveals details of its 13th Masters of Time event in Macau

DFS Group’s 13th Masters of Time event will launch on 15 November, 2022.

Luxury travel retailer DFS Group has offered an advance look at the 13th edition of its annual Masters of Time timepieces and fine jewellery event, which is launching next week.

This year’s collection will be unveiled on 15 November through a pop-up exhibition in T Galleria by DFS, Macau, Shoppes at Four Seasons and then celebrated with a Masters Awards gala event on 3 December.

The full collection will be open to the public and available to buy in Macau from 15 November until 28 February, 2023.

DFS’ annual Masters of Time event, which first launched in 2008, brings together leading brands in watchmaking and their ambassadors, together with enthusiasts and collectors for a high-profile celebration of artistry, craftsmanship and innovation in the worlds of watchmaking and fine jewellery.

It is a signature fixture in DFS’ Masters Series and is considered one of the most eagerly anticipated haute horlogerie events in the world.

The upcoming exhibition will showcase an exclusive portfolio of over 330 watches and jewellery pieces from more than 40 leading houses, including an additional 12 brands joining for the first time.

These are: Andersen Genève, Baume & Mercier, Bovet, Chaumet, Garrard, Hyt, Label Noir, Louis Erard, Montblanc, Oris, Qeelin and Stephen Webster.

This year’s Masters of Time event will also take place in he DFS World luxury travel retail metaverse.

New this year, is an interactive and entertaining online exhibition taking place within the DFS World luxury travel retail metaverse.

This includes 15 digital art pieces launching in collaboration with artists Pixsims and Didu Didu.

By converting digital art to NFTs, DFS aims to create an ‘immersive and digitally driven experience’ bringing a selection of sought after luxury items available via the retailer into the virtual world.

Visitors also have the chance to win digital collectibles.

The DFS Masters Awards will be held for the second year running.

This year’s programme features a specially selected and independent panel of leading industry experts, designers and social media influencers led by Carson Chan, Head of the Greater China mission for the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie.

They will evaluate the pieces from finalists including Jaeger-LeCoultre, Bovet, Bell and Rose, Bulgari, Van Cleef & Arpels and more, for their ‘timelessness, technical excellence, craftsmanship, innovation and extraordinary artistry’.

They will then cast their votes for the winners in six categories: Master of Watches, Master of Jewelry, Petit Hero, Excellence in Innovation, Excellence in Craftsmanship and Excellence in Jewelry Design.

Finalists in the Master of Watches awards category, which rewards the best overall timepiece among all nominations that is also deemed the most timeless and representative of the industry as a whole. There is also a People’s Choice award to honour the most popular timepiece or jewellery piece, as voted for by the public.
