DFS reopens stores in Macau, but still ‘monitoring situation’ in Hong Kong
By Charlotte Turner |
DFS Group has confirmed to TRBusiness that all seven of its stores in Macau have reopened, with adjusted opening hours of 12.00-20.00, in line with the Macau SAR government‘s directive to reopen the casinos.
As reported, the Macau SAR Government chose to close all its casinos and entertainment venues for two weeks, effective 5 February 2020. DFS then confirmed all stores in Macau would cease trading until 19 February inclusive.
In Hong, Kong DFS closed two of its stores at Tsimshatsui East and MOKO temporarily for ‘precautionary health reasons’, and staff were reassigned to the operators’ two other stores on Canton Road and Causeway Bay.
“We look forward to serving customers at our T Galleria by DFS, Canton Road or T Galleria by DFS, Causeway Bay stores, which remain open as usual, or through our Click and Collect Service,” said DFS at the time of the first statement on 10 February.
“The safety of our customers and staff is paramount, and we continue to monitor the situation,” a spokesperson told TRBusiness today.
DFS, which demonstrated strong resilience last year amid a slowdown in Hong Kong tourism due to the anti-government protests, said the closures were purely a preventative step.
