DFS has pledged a luxury ‘shopping oasis’ over 6,000sq m of floorspace at the T Galleria in Brisbane.

Luxury travel retailer DFS Group will open a new 6,000sq m T Galleria store in Brisbane, Australia.

T Galleria by DFS, Brisbane will showcase luxury brands as part of a phased opening from 2022 at Queen’s Wharf, a AUS$3.6 billion/US$2.7 billion development situated on the Brisbane River.

DFS says it will deliver a ‘shopping oasis’ of luxury retail floorspace as the exclusive retailer in Queen’s Wharf.

The three-level emporium in the historic Printery Building on George Street will combine a wealth of premium goods from 16 free-standing stores.

It will offer customers destination retail products from more than 100 brands, including several high-profile international goods that are new to Brisbane.

‘DESTINATION WITHIN A DESTINATION’

T Galleria by DFS, Brisbane will become the travel retailer’s largest location in Oceania where it already operates shops in Sydney, Cairns and Auckland.

Benjamin Vuchot, Chairman and CEO, DFS Group said: “DFS’ approach has always been to create destinations within destinations – we choose locations where our customers want to visit and then create stores of a quality and richness that elevate the local retail offering to a world-class level.

The new Neville Bonner Bridge will act as a key pedestrian thoroughfare across the Brisbane River.

“We’re delighted to join Queen’s Wharf Brisbane’s multitude of attractions and look forward to welcoming our global traveling customers to this exciting city in the future.”

Queen’s Wharf is being led by Destination Brisbane Corporation, a joint venture between The Star Entertainment Group and its Hong Kong-based partners Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and Far East Consortium.

The Star Entertainment Group CEO Matt Bekier stated: “Queen’s Wharf will deliver world-class experiences on so many levels. With DFS on board, our luxury retail shopping precinct will not only be globally competitive but the biggest they have in Australia. This will deliver the wow factor for locals, as well as interstate and international travellers.”

Repurposed historical buildings will dovetail with scenic, contemporary architecture across 26 hectares at Queen’s Wharf. Once it is completed, the leisure and tourism destination will spotlight residential apartments, a resort-integrated casino, several luxury and premium hotels, a convention centre, plenty of F&B spots, and recreational and cultural attractions.

Prior to Covid-19, Brisbane was reportedly the fastest-growing  holiday tourist destination in Australia, with international visitors up an average of +7% during the past three years.

The T Galleria move follows swiftly on the heels of a new store opening on Hainan island in partnership with Shenzhen Duty Free.

DFS adds that it also remains on schedule to open its largest and most significant flagship store to date later this year: Samaritaine Paris Pont-Neuf by DFS.
