Exuding a cultural and traveller-centric design ethos, the TPE T2 area C project enhances shopping, dining, and public service experiences.

Taiwan-based travel retailer Everrich Duty Free (Everrich) has completed a major shopping, dining and public services initiative at Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) in Taipei.

Spearheaded under the theme ‘Marketing Taiwan, Connecting the World’, Everrich has worked hard to transform T2 area C into an interconnected passenger area with shopping, dining and public services laced with cultural and traveller-centric design elements.

International brand boutiques lineup alongside a museum shop bringing together more than 10 Taiwanese art galleries boasting a curated selection of Taiwan exclusive cultural products, while revamped flagship units from global labels and the new Taiwan Liquor Pavillion – highlighting local favourites such as Kinmen Kaoliang and Omar Whisky – feature prominently.

Additionally, a new toy concept store introduces more than 20 trend-led brands, including Pop Mart and Jelly Cat.

Dining options are operated via in-house and partnership solutions.

Everrich is well-renowned for working closely on public-private partnership models that bring to life the passenger experience at TPE.

Ten traditional boarding lounges have been overhauled with AI interaction and Taiwanese cultural elements.

Highlights include ‘Island Odyssey’, celebrating Taiwan’s offshore islands, and the ‘Formosa Cultural Gate Lounge’, themed around indigenous Hakka and Minnan cultures.

In support of global sustainability, Everrich has also created the ‘Liu-Li Glass Pool’ using 6.5 tons of recycled glass in a nod to its commitment to the circular economy and sustainable operations.

A project years in the making…

Amid a competitive bidding process, the project was awarded in 2018 and launched in 2019.

Major disruptions were caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, but following the reopening of Taiwan’s borders in late 2022 Everrich resumed work by overcoming construction challenges while protecting uninterrupted airport operations and safeguarding TPE’s status us a gateway to the country.

The museum shop and Taiwan liquor shop features cultural and creative products representing Taiwan.

Praising Everrich for its commitment during the pandemic, Wei-Fu Yang, Chairman of Taoyuan International Airport Corporation, expressed hope for continued collaboration to boost the airport’s global ranking.

Meanwhile, Everrich Chairman Simon Chiang emphasised the company’s 30-year dedication to duty free in serving the public and its aim to create the world’s first culture-driven airport.

Despite global uncertainties, Everrich says it remains committed to strengthening Taiwan’s position as a competitive international gateway and contributing to the growth of the global travel retail industry.
