DFS’ first ‘Resort Galleria’ concept opens at T Galleria in Queenstown

T Galleria by DFS, Queenstown occupies a 1,800sq m footprint across the newly refurbished O’Connells complex and is the first store in DFS’ new ‘Resort Galleria’ concept to be introduced to its global store portfolio.
Luxury travel retailer DFS Group has inaugurated its newest T Galleria in Queenstown, New Zealand.
The store, which opened over the weekend as anticipated, is the first in DFS’ new ‘Resort Galleria’ concept, which showcases curated assortments of leading international and local brands.
Brand and media partners, social media influencers and VIP guests joined DFS for a preview luxury shopping event with tours of the two-level store, live performances, in-shop activations, and a flash-mob fashion show.
“Opening in Queenstown heralds a number of ‘firsts’ for DFS – our first store in this exciting location, the first luxury offering in Queenstown and the largest in the South Island, our first Resort Galleria concept,” said Prashant Mahboobani, Vice President Retail Operations Oceania, DFS Group. “We cannot wait to welcome visitors and local residents alike to our new store, and to make them feel at home with us.”
Local artist Jessica Winchcombe has created a custom abstract artwork live in store that is inviting bids from customers, with all proceeds going to Sustainable Queenstown, an impact initiative created to identify systemic gaps and problems within the environment
Meanwhile, DFS has collaborated with world-renowned Australian designer Karen Gee, known for her desirable made-to-measure designs.
Customers visiting T Galleria by DFS, Queenstown are able to book a session with Karen to create a stunning bespoke piece in a service powered by tRetail Labs.
As reported, the store itself boasts a vibrant, open and airy design with an informal yet elegant feel, accentuated by natural and sustainable locally sourced materials and iconic New Zealand motifs.

The Queenstown luxury emporium houses more than 120 international and premium local New Zealand brands, almost 40 of which are available exclusively at T Galleria by DFS, Queenstown.
Customers can shop from fashion brands such as Chloé, Stella McCartney and Kenzo; beauty from Dior, Estée Lauder, Lancôme, Tom Ford, La Prairie, Clarins and Gucci; and a range of watches, wine, food and gifts from Cloudy Bay, Steens Honey and Breitling.
Additional brands and concepts are due to be added to the store in the build up to its grand opening in March.
