GTR exclusive Golden Hour series is first Cognac cask finish for Ballantine’s

Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail (PR GTR) has launched the 23-Year-Old Golden Hour Edition from blended Scotch whisky maker Ballantine’s.

The duty free exclusive expression, which is bottled at 40% ABV and carries a RRP of $279, nods to the ‘golden hour’ of travel and is rooted in Ballantine’s ‘Time Well Spent’ ethos.

The rollout of the new sku has been marked by retail activations in select locations across Asia Pacific, including Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur and Australia, from April.

Liya Zhang, Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail VP of Marketing, said: “This is the first Cognac cask finish to join the Ballantine’s range and I am delighted to share it exclusively with travellers across Asia Pacific. With our new series we invite them to celebrate the golden moments of their travels, marked with discovery and new experiences.”

In Korea duty free, large scale activations have included a 40sq m pop up, amplified by impactful airport OOH media, while Korean consumer media and lifestyle influencers were invited to a boat cruise along Seoul’s Han River to enjoy a pairing dinner and cocktails.

The expression’s collectible bottle design features contrasting elements to denote day and night, past and future and Scotch and Cognac.

Ballantine’s 23-Year-Old, offering a unique twist on the Scotch’s signature style through different oak cask finishes.

Each of the liquids released as part of the series is designed to complement the original Ballentine’s 23-Year-Old.

The inaugural edition, crafted by Master Blender Sandy Hyslop, marries the award-winning 23-Year-Old blend with ex-Cognac casks – a first for the Ballantine’s portfolio.
