Hong Kong SkyMart, the key retail facility inside Terminal 1 of Hong Kong International Airport, has today announced the opening of SkyMart Avenue, a new retail zone that provides landside shopping attractions for visitors, and
cabin-size retail space for licensees to test market their products.
Located in the non-restricted area at the Level 7 Departures Hall of Terminal 1, SkyMart Avenue consists of ten unique retail concepts. Giorgio Fedon 1919 already has stores in Paris, Milan and New York, but this is the brand?s first standalone shop in Asia Pacific.
HKIA says the new store combines innovative technology and traditional craftsmanship luxury life-style products, including travel and office accessories, bags and briefcases, personal and game accessories and more.
China Mobile is also described as ‘an active player in providing VIP centers in mainland airports’. It is located in the lounge providing members services, from free snacks and beverages to internet surfing, mobile phone rental for Korea/Japan, phone cards, car rental arrangements and mobile phone sales.
Garona is another store selling Italian designed watches and the TDC Design Gallery is a concept run by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council displaying a wide range of quality products which showcase unique Hong Kong design as well as innovative concepts.
The Art Gallery has a contemporary Chinese shop design, offering an array of folk products such as Chinese musical instruments, tea sets, stationery and candy and the new store concepts also includes the first Mattel Toy Store in Asia, featuring global brand names, e.g. Barbie, Hotwheel, Fisher Price, UNO, Scrabble, dictionary, etc.
In the music and audio department, Bose the Bose outlet at HKIA not only displays, demonstrates and sells Bose audio products, but also provides full demonstrations for customers.
Meanwhile, OTO is an innovative brand of fitness and healthcare products with four product lines in relaxation, fitness, therapeutics and diagnostics. A Temptation perfume and cosmetics outlet has also been cleverly sited here to provide travellers with pre-check-in purchases of duty free perfumes, cosmetics, and other liquid items.
This allows passengers to place the items in their check-in bags, so avoiding any possibilities that the goods might be confiscated if they were carried in hand luggage.
Finally, ?3? is the renowned brand of Hutchison Telecom?s mobile communication services with a rich portfolio of handsets, round-the-clock video ‘infotainment’ contents, comprehensive voice and data roaming services and tailor-made corporate e-mail solutions.
?It has always been our goal to maintain a retail environment that benefits both visitors and licensees at the same time. SkyMart Avenue has further proven HKIA is the regional hub with the best trading environment,? Airport Authority Commercial Director Hans Bakker said.
HKIA said that 2006 has been a very successful year for Hong Kong SkyMart in terms of sales. Despite an earlier projection of a 12.2% sales increase, Hong Kong SkyMart actually attained a 14.3% figure, a growth rate well ahead of the 9.1% passenger growth rate last year.
