Incheon’s Airstar Avenue launches discounts for Lunar New Year
By Kevin Rozario |
Incheon International Airport’s duty free shop brand, Airstar Avenue, today launched a week-long Lunar New Year promotion targeting Chinese passengers.
Some 80,000 mainland PRC tourists, an increase of approximately +12% over last year, are expected to visit Korea during the lunar holidays, the most important in China.
To capture extra spending from this core group of shoppers, Airstar Avenue is offering special 5-10% discount coupons and pre-paid cards to customers from Greater China starting from today until 7 February.
The ‘Presenting Hongbao Celebrating Lunar New Year of 2014’ event will offer the discount kits to travellers at the arrival hall on the second floor of the airport.
Airstar Avenue will also refund KRW200,000 ($185) to Chinese tourists who buy premium watches before their departure. Tourists from Greater China who buy watches valued over $3,000 can instantly receive prepaid cards worth KRW200,000 at duty free shops.
In 2014, Incheon says it will introduce special marketing events “to sustain its status as the top duty free shop complex”. Incheon currently vies with Dubai Duty Free for the title of the world’s top location for DF&TR sales.
