Japanese fast fashion brand Uniqlo opens at Singapore Changi
By Kevin Rozario |
Japanese fast fashion brand Uniqlo will open its first store at Singapore Changi Airport at the end of this month selling both men’s and women’s apparel.
The 362sq m unit in Terminal 1 (near the Transfer C counter) is the brand’s 16th store in Singapore, and Changi Airport Group also claims it is the first in the world within the departure transit lounge of an airport.
Uniqlo already has a long-standing presence in Japanese airports including Tokyo Narita and Osaka Kansai, as well as Hong Kong International.
Commenting on the Changi launch, Satoshi Onoguchi, Managing Director of Uniqlo (Singapore), says: “The opening of Uniqlo in one of the world’s busiest airports – Changi – represents an important milestone for our brand. We are confident that our extensive collection is suitable for travel to various climates across the globe.”
Changi Airport Group Senior Vice President for Airside Concessions, Ivy Wong, adds that the new store will “resonate with both the young and old, not just in Japan, but around the world”.
To celebrate the launch, customers will get an exclusive Uniqlo travel pillow with every S$40 net purchase in a single receipt while stocks last.
