Kansai handled 11m in 2008

Kansai International Airport Co., Ltd has reported that it handled 11m international passengers in FY 2008, of which 7.2m were Japanese nationals, 3.3m non-Japanese and 403,494 transit passengers.


At the same time, the airport company hopes to improve its competitiveness following the transfer of control over the all-important toll road 'Sky Gate Bridge' which physically connects Kansai Island to the mainland.

The new operator is now West Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd which has promised to lower the tolls on the main access road by 50%.
