Sunshine Coast Airport has appointed Lagardère AWPL as its retail and food & beverage partner, as it prepares to transform the terminal as part of the largest commercial investment in the airport’s history.
The project will introduce a renewed retail and dining portfolio aligned with the airport’s ambition to enhance the passenger experience, while showcasing the identity and produce of the Sunshine Coast region.
This new partnership represents a significant step in Lagardère AWPL’s continued development in the Pacific region, where the company operates more than 150 stores across 26 airports.
Sunshine Coast Airport CEO Chris Mills said: “Partnering with a world-class international operator allows us to reimagine what our terminal can offer to deliver more choice for travellers.
“Their reputation across the world and commitment to quality align strongly with our vision to improve the passenger experience and showcase the best of our region.”
Lagardère to create Sense of Place showcase
From mid-2026 through to late-2027, Lagardère AWPL will progressively open seven outlets totalling around 1,000sq m, including travel essentials with the leading brand Relay, and the flagship specialty retail concept Discover Sunshine Coast.
The development will also introduce an expanded F&B offer featuring a new burger brand, all-day dining kitchen & bar and expanded Asian fresh food, alongside dedicated departure and arrival cafés.
The Relay brand is already present in 13 airports across the region. Alongside it, Discover Sunshine Coast will serve as a dedicated showcase for local producers, products and regional stories, creating a strong sense of place throughout the terminal.
Lagardère AWPL CEO Costa Kouros noted: “My team and I would like to sincerely thank Sunshine Coast Airport for their continued trust. It is a partnership spanning almost two decades. Together with local partners, our teams are committed to delivering a transformed retail and dining experience, with a genuine focus on the Sunshine Coast and its producers.”
Lagardère Travel Retail Group Chief Financial and Regional Chief Operating Officer – Pacific Luc Mansion added: “We are proud to partner with Sunshine Coast Airport at an important stage in its development. Our role is to support the airport’s vision through disciplined execution and consistently high operational standards, while ensuring the commercial offer reflects both the character of the region and the expectations of today’s travellers.
“By combining internationally recognised formats with locally anchored concepts, we aim to build a sustainable commercial environment that delivers long-term value for the airport, its partners and the wider Sunshine Coast community.”
