Lagardère TR says all its staff are ‘safe’ in Christchurch NZ
By Charlotte Turner |
Lagardère Travel Retail, which has a team of 113 people working at Christchurch Airport in New Zealand, has issued a touching statement in support of the victims – along with their families – of last Friday’s brutal terrorist attack on two Christchurch mosques.
Fifty people were killed by a single gunman on Friday 15th March at mosques in Christchurch. According to CNN, the 28-year-old man accused of the atrocity has refused a lawyer.
“As the world watches on in disbelief of the shocking terrorist attack in Christchurch New Zealand, our deepest sympathy goes out to those who sadly lost their lives,” says the company.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with our Christchurch team, their families and loved ones, the wider Christchurch community, and all those affected by this recent tragedy.”
‘ALL TEAM MEMBERS SAFE’
Lagardère Travel Retail operates an Aelia Duty Free and seven Travel Essential stores at Christchurch airport, and is extremely thankful that all its team are safe, but very saddened by the news that extended family members and close friends have been lost in this tragedy.
“The support of the global Lagardère Travel Retail family is with our teams in Christchurch, the airport team, together with the extended community, many of who are regular travellers through the airport,” it adds.
“For a country as inclusive and tolerant as New Zealand, this act of violence is unthinkable” says Przemek Lesniak CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail.
“Our thoughts, prayers and ongoing support are with our teams and the extended Christchurch community.”
In support of those affected, Lagardère Travel Retail will activate donations from its staff and store network across the Pacific region to the ‘Givealittle’ page which has been set up by the New Zealand Council of Victim Support Groups.
