Lingle calls for more power
By Administrator |
Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle has added to the woes of Honolulu International Airport management by criticising its facilities in the wake of images depicted at the airport after the earthquake temporarily stopped all flights at
the weekend.
Lingle said it was unacceptable that the airport had no emergency generators capable of providing basic lighting for ticket counters, security checkpoints or bathrooms. She said Honolulu Airport was supposed to be an international airport and it should be run like one and no longer be susceptible to such basic problems.
Television news throughout the US in particular showed thousands of passengers stuck at the airport without food or water crowded very uncomfortably in the old terminal facility.
Lingle has now called for new generators to be included in the statewide airport improvement programme that is planned.
