Lotte builds momentum in Japan with incentives for Korean customers
By Charlotte Turner |
Lotte Duty Free will hold events to incentivise its Korean customers to shop at its stores in Japan as the country approves visa-free travel this month.
Lotte said that despite the high exchange rate between the Japanese Yen and the Korean Won, the company’s domestic sales in Japan have increased by 230% in the past three months.
As reported by Reuters, the Yen has depreciated nearly 20% this year, ‘sinking to 24-year lows, largely as aggressive US interest rate hikes push the dollar higher’.
In addition, the Japanese Government announced on Tuesday 11 October, that overseas travellers are now permitted to make trips to Japan without a visa.
To further encourage Korean travellers to visit Japan, Lotte Duty Free will give away two 2-night trips to Tokyo, including a return air ticket to Korea as well as hotel accommodation.
Lotte Duty Free will also host a live broadcast, in partnership with NHN Dr. Tour, introducing travel packages with special benefits.
Lotte will sell air tickets to Osaka, Japan, hotel accommodation, and travel insurance, during the broadcast ‘LDF LIVE Travel Love Duty Free’, which will be held at 8pm on the 13 October.
Numerous promotions will be held until the end of November for domestic customers who are planning to depart for Japan.
Among other shopping incentives, Lotte Duty Free members will be entitled to a 10% discount coupon to use in the Tokyo Ginza store.
Customers who write reviews about their trip to Japan on Lotte’s website can also win LDF PAY worth ₩30,000.
In addition, through Kakao Talk gifting, LDF PAY ₩50,000 coupons will be available to purchase (on a first-come, first-served basis) for a 30% discount.
