By Benedict Evans |
Lotte Duty Free Shop CEO Kim Joo-nam announced on 27 June that it has launched the first online duty free service at an airport duty free shop together with the Korea Airports Corporation, which will allow passengers to purchase duty free goods up to one hour before departure.
Any products selected can then be picked up at Lotte Duty Free Shop Gimpo, Gimhae, and Jeju Airport branches.
To commemorate the opening of the airport online duty-free service, Lotte Duty Free has also prepared a promotion offering discounts on various products.
Lotte Duty Free said it plans to continue to improve its online and offline shopping infrastructure to improve customer convenience.
Lotte Duty Free and Korea Airports Corporation have opened the ‘KAC Airport Online Duty Free Service’, which is a service designed to allow customers departing through Gimpo, Gimhae, and Jeju International Airport to shop duty free online in advance.
At a commemorative event held at the international terminal of Gimpo Airport on 26 June, a demonstration of the access method and purchase procedure of KAC Airport’s online duty free shop was held.
Online purchases at existing downtown duty free shops can be made up to 3 hours before boarding the aircraft due to transportation time to the airport, but KAC Airport’s online duty-free shop allows duty-free purchases up to 1 hour before departure.
Lotte Duty Free and Korea Airports Corporation also prepared a promotion to commemorate the opening of the airport’s online duty free service.
A total of 22 products, including cosmetics, eyewear, alcohol, and food, will be discounted by up to 25% until 8 July.
A Lotte Duty Free Shop official said: “We expect that the convenience of customers departing through Gimpo, Gimhae, and Jeju International Airports will increase as they will be able to purchase duty-free goods online up to one hour before departure.
Lotte Duty Free Shop will collaborate with Korea Airports Corporation in many ways and we will continue to improve our online and offline shopping infrastructure.”
Lotte Duty Free currently operates three airport duty free shops in Korea (Gimpo Airport Branch, Gimhae Airport Branch, Jeju Airport Branch), four downtown duty-free shops (Myeongdong Main Branch, World Tower Branch, Busan Branch, and Jeju Branch), and a Jeju Air inflight duty free shop.
