Lotte Duty Free’s Stephen Timms to represent ADFA on APTRA Board

The Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association (APTRA) has named Stephen Timms as the Australian Duty Free Association’s (ADFA) representative on the APTRA Board.

The Lotte Duty Free Oceania CEO & Director replaces Richard Goodman, who in December stepped down from the APTRA Board.

Melbourne-based Timms, who is also a Director of Lotte Travel Retail Singapore, has worked in DF&TR for more than 26 years.

He joined DFS Group in 1995 and went on to serve as Managing Director of DFS North America, Mid Pacific and Oceania.

He was Executive General Manager at JR/Duty Free for Australia and New Zealand between 2012-2018 before joining Lotte Duty Free after it acquired the company.

Sunil Tuli, President, APTRA said: “We warmly welcome Stephen to represent ADFA on the APTRA Board. His experience across Australasia and Oceania is second to none and we will benefit from his involvement in ensuring this important market is at the heart of APTRA strategy as the industry continues its recovery. On behalf of everyone at APTRA I would also like to thank Richard Goodman for his time in representing ADFA on our board, his energy and valued contribution.”

Stephen Timms added: “I’m so pleased to be representing ADFA with APTRA and to maximise the synergies of both organisations at this pivotal time post-Covid. The Australian duty free market is a positive place to be right now, with the gradual return of international travellers and the opportunity to rebuild our industry with a new set of omni-channel dynamics. However it also faces increasing ESG and CSR challenges around health regulation and sustainability, so there is great value for ADFA members in us being an active participant with APTRA and its excellent advocacy strategy.”

The next APTRA board election will take place in May 2023.
