Lotte Duty Freedom Festival will be held in Da Nang in August.

Lotte Duty Free is preparing to hold its first Lotte Duty Freedom Festival in Vietnam, as it reveals ambitions to hold a 60% duty free market share in the country.

Set to take place on 12 August at the Hyatt Regency in Da Nang, the event will attract 1,000 domestic and international tourists.

Lotte Duty Free entered the Vietnamese market in 2017 with the opening of its Da Nang Airport store.

Since then it has expanded its footprint in the market to four stores: Nha Trang Cam Ranh Airport, Hanoi Airport, and Da Nang City.

The retailer said it wants to account for 60% of the duty free market in Vietnam.

Lotte Duty Freedom will feature singer and DJ Shaun, known for his song ‘Way Back Home’, alongside Korean DJ and artists DJ GG and DJ Glory. There will also be a pool party, games and opportunities to win prizes.

The festival was planned to promote both Lotte Duty Free’s Da Nang Airport Store, and the Da Nang City location.

More than 50% of Da Nang’s tourists are Korean, who visit all year round.

Admission tickets will be given to customers who spend more than US$150 at Lotte Duty Free’s Da Nang City store. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased via travel platform Klook priced at around US$42.

The downtown store is also running a giveaway event with a range of summer vacations as prices.

Customers who visit the store before 31 July will be given free coffee, and spa and nail art vouchers will be given away with a US$30 spend before 31 August.

“Da Nang is a world-class resort destination visited by Koreans and multinational tourists, and we decided to hold this event to provide a differentiated travel experience for Lotte Duty Free and customers visiting Da Nang,” said Kim Ki-kyung, Lotte Duty Free Vietnam General Manager of Lotte Duty Free Vietnam (from translation).

Earlier this month, Lotte kicked off operations at Melbourne Airport as plans for a revamp were revealed.
