Maker’s Mark Wood Finishing Series Singapore Edition has touched down at Changi Airport

Beam Suntory-owned Maker’s Mark has released a Singapore-exclusive edition in its Wood Finishing Series, in partnership with Lotte Duty Free, restaurateur Willin Low and bar director Aki Eguchi.

The Changi Terminal 4-exclusive whiskey has been created using a wood stave-finishing technique, developed to enhance specific notes in Maker’s Mark Bourbon.

Fully matured, cask strength Maker’s Mark is moved to a second barrel, where wood staves are used to achieve the desired flavour profile. 

Low and Eguchi wanted to bring Singapore’s “vibrant, tropical vibes” to the Kentucky distillery, choosing to accent notes including cacao and nutmeg. 

Maker’s Mark Wood Finishing Series Singapore Edition joins New York, Sydney and Frankfurt in the collection. It is limited to 720 bottles with an RRSP of S$132/US$95 for 700ml.

The launch is being supported with a high-profile activation space which celebrates Singapore. 

Uniformed Maker’s Mark ambassadors will engage visitors alongside a tasting bar, impactful brand imagery, screen-printed tote bags. The activation runs until 29 February 2024.

“Drawing inspiration from the vibrant diversity of Singapore, our special Maker’s Mark whiskey offers a captivating and unique tasting experience,” said Eguchi, director at the renowned Jigger & Pony bar.

“Crafted with a blend of flavours reminiscent of the lush tropical paradise, aromatic notes of pineapple and mango create a delightful burst of exotic fruitiness.

“To add depth and complexity, we’ve carefully balanced these tropical elements with a subtle touch of warming spices, nutmeg, clove and cinnamon, making each a journey through a harmonious fusion of flavours that celebrate the spirit of Singapore.”

Low, who was named one of Singapore’s best chefs by the Financial Times in 2009, said drinkers should “savour the exhilarating warmth of this spicy bourbon, as bold flavours dance on your palate, creating an unforgettable Singapore symphony for the senses.”

Last year, Beam Suntory commenced the travel retail roll-out of its Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged Bourbon, the distillery’s oldest release to date.
