Mumbai Duty Free relaunches new and improved flagship marketing campaign
By Andrew Pentol |
Mumbai Duty Free (MDF) has relaunched its flagship Mumbai Duty Free is Now Free Shopping Festival on a larger scale with the aim of building on last year’s success.
The festival, which runs until 30 June, offers exclusive deals and discounts worth up to 33% on duty free products across categories such as spirits, fragrances, cosmetics, wellness products, confectionery, gourmets, accessories and fashion and luxury. Travellers using the MDF pre-order service can receive a discount of up to 25%.
On this occasion, international customers can pre-plan their purchases and enjoy additional shopping benefits via MDF’s exclusive tie-up with Goibibo and MakeMyTrip.
These companies will send out mailers to their Mumbai-based customers offering discount vouchers worth $8, redeemable at MDF stores.
VALUE ADDING BENEFITS
Customers can benefit from a combination of value adding benefits such as cash-back from banking partners and shopping money through gift cards.
All international passengers flying via Mumbai receive an unconditional $5 shopping gift card for their purchases at MDF. Select customers also receive a $72 shopping gift card on their fashion & luxury purchases.
In addition, MDF has retained the Citibank cashback offer from last year. This gives customers 15% cashback on their duty free purchases at MDF arrivals and departures stores, with a maximum cashback of INR1,500 ($22) and 15% cashback on their fashion and luxury purchases without any capping on the cashback.
The Vodafone offer of shopping money worth $11 on activation of their international roaming plans, will also continue. Additionally, all customers paying through Indian e-commerce Paytm receive cashback of up to $6.
MDF has also partnered with UnionPay International to offer an exclusive 10% discount on all fashion and luxury purchases made using UnionPay cards.
Once consumers reach a certain spend threshold, they receive a Mumbai Duty Free Is Now Free envelope. This contains discount vouchers and complementary shopping experiences from major downtown and online partner brands.
Following on from last year’s campaign, a new set of offers from partner brands has been introduced.
These brands and offers include travel partner MakeMyTrip, which is offering discounts worth $58 on domestic and international flight tickets; Dining Partner Eazy Diner, which is giving a free three-month membership worth $12 for Eazy Diner Prime; Mumbai’s Luxury Shopping Mall Palladium, which is offering shopping vouchers worth $29, redeemable at select stores in the mall; Retail Partner Ajio, which is offering discounts worth $29 on Ajio Gold; mobile wallet partner Paytm, which is offering cashback of $2 on movie tickets; and banking partner Citibank, which is offering shopping money worth $29. This is redeemable at Mumbai Duty Free Stores when registering for a Citibank Card.
As a result of these offers, customers receive brand vouchers worth more than $100. All promotions and deals are valid across MDF’s departures and arrivals stores.
Manishi Sanwal, CEO, Mumbai Duty Free (Flemingo Travel Retail Ltd.) said: “We cater to a segment of customers who treasure additional value on their purchases and so it has been our constant endeavour over the years to ensure they receive this.
“A campaign like Mumbai Duty Free Is Now Free allows us to provide a unique combination of multiple lucrative offerings that not only ensure shopping at Mumbai Duty Free is an experience worth travelling for, but also sets new standards for the travel retail industry.”
