Singapore Changi Airport reports that French luxury fashion house Saint Laurent has opened its second Changi Airport store in Terminal 3 at the same time that Pure Gold Jewellers has unveiled its third store at the airport in Terminal 2.
Both of these store openings are located in the terminal transit areas and come at the same time that the bakery/restaurant PAUL has relocated from T3 to T1 and Starbucks Reserve has opened its first dedicated Asian outlet in T3’s Departure Hall.
Changi Airport Group (CAG) management says these retail and F&B additions come at the same time as it handled a total of 5.11m passenger movements in March, a 4.3% year-on-year increase.
ALL REGIONS CONTRIBUTED TO PAX RISE
CAG said: “Passenger traffic for the month of March was boosted by traffic growth across all regions. Among Changi’s top 10 country markets, China and India led the gainers with double-digit growth.
“Strong traffic growth was also observed between Singapore and Asian cities such as Denpasar (+13%), Guangzhou (+18%) and Seoul (+13%).
“For the first quarter of this year, Changi Airport registered 15m passengers, 4.7% higher than during the same period last year. China registered strong growth of 14%, accounting for about 10% of total passenger movements during this period. Aircraft movements rose 2.0% to 90,540, while air freight movements registered an increase of 6.2%, totalling 494,180 tonnes.”
Meanwhile, Changi Airport has welcomed new services and increased frequencies for the Northern Summer 2017 season, which runs from 26 March to 28 October 2017. These include Singapore Airlines (SIA) flights to Ahmedabad (from 3x to 4x weekly); SIA to Bangkok (35x to 42x weekly); SIA to Ho Chi Minh City (17x to 19x weekly); SilkAir to Phuket (31x to 35x weekly); and Myanmar National Airlines to Yangon (12x to 14x weekly).
