Singapore Airlines has launched its new KrisPay It Forward project.

The initiative enables KrisFlyer members to donate miles via the KrisPay app to purchase edible treats for 100,000 healthcare, migrant and conservancy workers in Singapore, along with public transport operators and taxi drivers.

Part of the #SIAcares initiative, the project enables KrisFlyer members to show their appreciation for frontline workers and other ‘unsung heroes’ in the community in the fight against the coronavirus (Covid-19).

The campaign will run until 15 July 2020, or until the project has met its target of funding 50,000 treats through. Singapore Airlines will then match this with another 50,000 treats.

Each donation of 450 KrisPay miles (equivalent to S$3) is enough to purchase one treat. These include a samosa set, muffin and bun set, milk tea or green tea set, doughnut set and curry puff set.

KRISPAY PARTNERS TO PROVIDE TREATS

Treats will be provided by KrisPay partners such as Anglo Indian Café and Bar, Cedele, Gong Cha, Krispy Kreme, Polar Puffs & Cakes and Sakunthala’s Food Palace. The treats will be prepared and delivered once the target has been met.

Singapore Airlines will provide a further 50,000 treats for healthcare, migrant and conservancy workers in Singapore and public transport operators and taxi drivers once the initial 50,000 target is met.

In order to donate, KrisFlyer members must download and log into the KrisPay app. They must then click on the KrisPay It Forward link in the highlights section and follow instructions. Members can top up their KrisPay wallet with KrisFlyer milers and donate any amount they wish.

JoAnn Tan, Acting Senior Vice President, Marketing Planning, Singapore Airlines said: “This initiative provides a platform for KrisFlyer members to show their support for front-liners and unsung heroes in our community. This is our small way of thanking them by giving them a well-deserved treat and giving local businesses a boost at the same time.”

Chris Pok, CEO, KrisShop told TRBusiness: “KrisPay is our so-called sister unit within the group itself. We are very proud of any initiatives which support social organisations.”

This latest acknowledgement of the efforts of frontline workers during the pandemic, follows the launch of this publication’s Duty Free Care for Carers campaign.

The campaign invites industry stakeholders to join us on our mission to give back to health and medical professionals who risked their lives to save others. Interested parties can provide details of their offer on the dedicated Duty Free Care for Carers ‘Join the Campaign’ page.
