New@BNE to make debut at Brisbane Airport in 2018
By Charlotte Turner |
News@BNE, a News and Travel Essentials concept exclusive to Brisbane Airport, is set to open for trade in the Domestic Terminal from late 2018.
In addition to the launch of News@BNE, a new first-to-market Bookstore/Cafe and local produce concept called Bound will open by early 2020.
Owned and operated by AWPL, the region’s leading Australian-owned and operated travel retailer, News@BNE will offer customers news, books, magazines, stationery, beverages, technology and travel essentials in an environment unique to Brisbane Airport and with a special focus on friendly, efficient customer service.
Bound will offer a customer experience unlike any other airport bookstore, with a market-leading book offering, supported by an in-store espresso café and wine bar serving the best wine and produce from Brisbane and its surrounds.
AWPL has signed on with 10 new stores as part of Brisbane Airport’s $40 million northern Domestic Terminal redevelopment which will deliver more than 50 new tenancies, new retail and food offerings and upgraded passenger facilities.
AWPL PARTNERSHIP STRUCK IN 1995
Andrew Brodie, Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) General Manager Airline and Retail Management, said, “We are delighted to continue our successful retail partnership with AWPL which began when AWPL opened its first store at Brisbane Airport in 1995.
“AWPL has consistently demonstrated a willingness to align with our vision to deliver a liveable airport, with retail recreational and commercial experiences that are uniquely Brisbane and we are looking forward to building on this platform with the new concepts to be delivered at the Domestic Terminal.”
Managing Director of AWPL, Costa Kouros, said, “The team here at AWPL is proud to continue our long-standing partnership with Brisbane Airport.
“We are truly excited by the opportunity and will now begin our work to deliver on what we promised – a positive and memorable customer experience that will delight our customers and enhance the reputation of Brisbane Airport. Our stores will be dedicated to Brisbane. Brands that will be specifically created for Brisbane Airport, and each store designed to represent the uniqueness of Brisbane in a world class environment.”
A long-time tenant of Brisbane Airport, AWPL operates News Travels, Australian Way, Carry On, Merino Collection, and Dreamtime Journey at the International Terminal and has a 22-year presence at the Domestic Terminal with News Travels, Aero, Australian Way, and Around Australia.
