Organisers say TFWA Asia show is shaping up well

By Doug Newhouse |

Top Singapore TFWA 2017 logoTax Free World Association reports that this year’s Singapore TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore is shaping up well as the ‘must visit event’ for all those involved in the duty free and travel retail sector in Asia.

Due to be held from 7 to 11 May 2017, this year’s event is expected to be every bit as successful and well attended as last years when exhibitor numbers were up by 9% and visitor numbers by 12%.

TFWA President Erik Juul-Mortensen said: “When it comes to looking for growth and opportunity, all eyes have been on Asia for many years. In 2015, two of the top three countries for sales were in Asia and an impressive six out of the top ten.

“There is no doubt that Asia will have maintained its dominant position in 2016. In the first quarter of 2016, while some regions were experiencing a fall in sales, Asia Pacific saw growth of 5%.”

THE SINGAPORE EVENT REMAINS VERY POPULAR
As in the past, TFWA adds that the exhibition is also expected to attract the most exciting brands from across the region, plus the leading international players. Top airport and downtown retailers, airport landlords and others working within the region and outside also routinely attend this show.

Just a few of the top new or returning exhibiting brands whose principals have confirmed they will be attending include fashion companies Tommy Hilfiger and Kering Eyewear, fragrance and cosmetic brands Guerlain and Caudalie, wines and spirits companies Whyte & Mackay, Champagne Laurent Perrier and Zonin 1821 – plus APM Monaco (jewellery), Korea Ginseng Corporation (confectionery) and tobacco KT & G Corporation.

Commenting further, Juul-Mortensen said: “The TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference is a well established gateway to one of the duty free and travel retail sector’s most important markets. As in previous years, the 2017 event will be an essential diary date for all those who have an interest in developing their business in this key region.”
