Perth Airport seeks retail interest
By Administrator |
Westralia Airports Corporation (WAC), the owner of Perth Airport, is seeking proposals from specialty concessionaires interested in providing high quality retail offerings within the International Terminal. The categories of jewellery, confectionery and fashion are the
focus of a request for proposals for one airside and one landside site.
In a statement, WAC said: ‘Over 9.7m passengers travelled through Perth Airport during 2008/2009. International passenger numbers grew 4.2% on the previous financial year to reach 2.6m in FY09. The airport's redevelopment plans – which aim to consolidate the Domestic and International Terminalfacilities into one precinct – remain on track with A$70m ($59m) invested in aviation infrastructure during the 2008/09 financial year and a further investment of A$190m ($160m) planned for 2010.
‘The first stage in Perth Airport's consolidation project is the commencement and completion of a 26-hectare aircraft parking apron for a new intrastate and interstate terminal, Terminal WA. This terminal will provide travellers with a superior travel experience, good retail offerings and easy access to long-term car parking options. Planning has also begun for an expansion of the retail offering within the current Domestic multi-user terminal (Terminal 3) to meet passenger demand prior to the completion of the consolidated terminals.
‘In addition to the two specialty retail sites within the International Terminal, Perth Airport welcomes expressions of interest in all retail categories in advance of forthcoming developments in the Domestic multi-user terminal and Terminal WA, with a number of sites becoming available in the short to medium term.’
Concessionaires interested in submitting a specialty retail proposal to Perth Airport should do so by Monday, September 14 2009.
