Royal Salute celebrates city of Jodhpur with 21YO limited edition Scotch

Pernod Ricard GTR has launched a new Jodhpur edition for Royal Salute blended Scotch.

Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail (GTR) has launched Royal Salute 21 Year Old Jodhpur Polo Edition, a limited blended Scotch whisky said to evoke the “magic” of a Jodhpur night.

Royal Salute has aligned itself with the sport of polo for over a decade, and this latest expression celebrates the birthplace of the modern sport.

The city in India has “authentic roots in royalty and ritual”, and the whisky intends to capture its culture and flavours.

Said to offer rich spices, the expression was created by Royal Salute Master Blender Sandy Hyslop, and endorsed by Royal Salute World Polo Ambassador, and polo player, Malcolm Borwick.

The release was fully finished in virgin oak casks to impart notes of mango, coconut, caramel and warming cinnamon.

Royal Salute 21 Year Old Jodhpur Polo Edition is presented in the brand’s signature flagon in vibrant yellow to contrast with the blue box.

The packaging design features an Indian palace, a large gold moon, stars, and the city lights.

Coated glass has been used for the packaging to reduce environmental impact. While Pernod Ricard GTR intends for the bottle to be treasured for years to come, it’s easily recyclable around the world in line with its sustainability roadmap.

The coated glass bottle is fully recyclable.

“At Pernod Ricard GTR, we are dedicated to delivering exceptional travel retail experiences, so we are very proud to be launching this exciting new limited edition,” said Liya Zhang, Vice President of Marketing at Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail.

“As interest in prestige whisky continues to grow, we are confident that travellers and whisky lovers will be excited by the unique packaging design as well as the product story and rich culture relevance; making it perfect for gifting and collectors alike.”

Sandy Hyslop added: “I always focus on telling the story of an expression when I am crafting a new release and so I was naturally drawn towards the iconic flavours of India when crafting the 21 Year Old Jodhpur Polo Edition.

“To honour these spices and aromas, I wanted this bespoke blend to have notes of sweet mango chutney and a spicy finish, to compliment the richness. With every sip, this expression transports you to the magic of Jodhpur.”

Royal Salute 21 Year Old Jodhpur Polo Edition is available now at selected travel hubs and markets including Taiwan, Singapore, Korea, India, and Dubai, with an RRP of $160.

Earlier this month, Pernod Ricard U-turned on selling its products in Russia following boycotts and protests.
