Singapore Airlines and Scoot pax can offset CO2 footprints under scheme

By Luke Barras-hill |

Passengers flying with Singapore Airlines or Scoot can visit dedicated microsites before or after flying and display their ‘green’ commitment.

Passengers flying with Singapore Airlines or Scoot can now offset their carbon emissions before or after flying following the launch of a voluntary carbon offset programme by Singapore Airlines Group.

According to Singapore Airlines’ website, passengers can enter their flight details to calculate the carbon footprint of their trip and the associated cost to offset.

The SIA Group will match the level of emissions offset for a period of six months from launch date in a move that the Group says amounts to ‘effectively doubling the positive impact from your action as you fly carbon neutral’.

Contributions will be pushed towards a portfolio of carbon offset projects such as restoring vital rainforests in Indonesia, building solar energy projects in India, and distributing clean-burning and efficient cooking stoves in rural Nepal to deliver environmental and social benefits to communities across Asia.
