Singapore Cruise Centre wins top Asia media ‘best’ award
By Doug Newhouse |
The Singapore Cruise Centre (SCC) says it is very proud to have won the award for ‘Best Cruise Port’ for the second year in row by readers of Travel Weekly Asia, comprising travel and hospitality professionals within the travel industry.
This is the second year running that the SCC has won this award, with those voting citing its ease of embarkation, disembarkation and immigration and baggage claim efficiencies.
6.3M FERRY AND 560,000 CRUISE PAX LAST YEAR
Accepting the award at a special ceremony held at the Mandarin Orchard Singapore last night, Ms Christina Siaw, CEO of SCC said: “We are delighted with this vote of confidence for the second-year running. We take seriously our commitment to provide a high quality, seamless and delightful experience for all who pass through our terminals and this award will motivate us to continue pursuing that.
“I would like to convey my heart felt appreciation and gratitude to all my colleagues at SCC, for without their hard work and dedication we would not be one of Asia’s most established cruise ports.”
Travel Weekly Asia’s annual Readers’ Choice Awards go to companies who have provided ‘consistent exceptional service and products in the past year’.
MAJOR RETAIL UPGRADE LAST YEAR
The awards recognise accommodation, transportation, venue, service and technology providers in 46 categories within the travel industry.
In addition to HarbourFront, the SCC also manages the regional ferry terminal at Tanah Merah and has received more than 25 awards since it was established in 1991.
DFS Group officially opened its new master duty free and duty paid Singapore Cruise Center (SCC) retail offering last August, after winning the first-ever five-year master departure and arrival store business at the Tanah Merah and HarbourFront terminals.
The main retail space within both the arrival and departure areas was expanded to 6,000sq ft to serve the 6.3m-plus ferry passengers and 560,000 cruise passengers using the SCC each year.
