Support floods in as TFWA Asia Pacific Hainan Special Edition draws closer

The event will feature a workshop devoted to the Hainan duty free market.

Leading travel retail businesses have officially pledged their support for the upcoming Tax Free World Association Asia Pacific Hainan Special Edition event (21-24 June).

A strong line-up of speakers will headline the conference and host a series of online workshops. The workshops will focus on various topics including the progress of duty free and travel retail in Hainan; the digitalisation of retail; the future of the luxury market; and travel in a post-pandemic world.

A workshop devoted to the Hainan duty free market will include presentations from Han Shengjian, Director of the International Economic Development Bureau; You Jiangwei, Chairman of Shenzhen Duty Free Group; Xie Zhiyong, Chairman and General Manager of Hainan Tourism Investment Duty Free; Chen Hui, General Manager of Zhuhai Duty Free Group; and Ken Zhu, Chief Operations Officer of CNSC Sanya Duty Free Co Ltd.

The conference on 22 June (beginning at 9am CET/3pm HKT) will commence with an introduction from Jaya Singh, President. This will be followed by a round table discussion featuring leading retailers China Duty Free Group, Dufry, DFS Group, Gebr Heinemann and Lagardère Travel Retail.

A further session will address the immediate future for travel and tourism, with contributions from senior executives at ACI Asia-Pacific, International Air Transport Association, Pacific Asia Travel Association, Duty Free World Council and Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association. The conference will close with a look at how the current crisis has influenced purchasing behaviour, courtesy of consumer expert Nathalie Nahai.

The Shenzhen Duty Free and DFS downtown duty free shopping complex is situated at Hainan island’s integrated leisure and tourism resort of Haikou Mission Hills. Shenzhen Duty Free is among the event’s platinum sponsors.
