Sydney Airport and Heinemann Australia have opened Australia’s first dedicated international arrivals store located within a baggage reclaim hall.
Developed in response to customer insights, the new offering gives passengers a final shopping opportunity between clearing immigration and collecting their bags.
“Sydney Airport welcomes 42 million passengers each year, and we’re focused on continually improving every stage of the journey, including the retail experience,” said Sydney Airport Executive General Manager Commercial, Mark Zaouk.
“Working with Heinemann allows us to bring together global expertise, premium brands and innovative retail concepts to deliver a more engaging and seamless experience for our passengers.
“This investment supports our broader vision to create a world-class airport that reflects the needs of modern travellers while strengthening Sydney Airport’s role as Australia’s international gateway.”
The store features an assortment of liquor and perfume products, giving arriving international passengers access to a selection of premium brands before departing the airport.
“We’re proud to partner with Sydney Airport to deliver a unique retail experience that combines internationally recognised brands, local Australian products and a customer-focused approach backed by data, insights and innovation,” commented Rajshree Dugar, CEO of Heinemann Asia Pacific.
“Having operated at Sydney Airport for more than a decade, we have seen first-hand how traveller expectations continue to evolve. Our goal is to create a retail environment that is welcoming, memorable and convenient, giving passengers greater choice and one final opportunity to shop before continuing their journey.
“Together with Sydney Airport, we are investing in experiences that meet the needs of today’s travellers while setting a new benchmark for airport retail in Australia.”
The arrivals experience is part of Sydney Airport’s ongoing investment in customer experience, delivering a more seamless, intuitive and convenient journey for passengers.
