Prestige skincare brand Tatcha has expanded its GTR footprint into South Korea through an exclusive partnership with Lotte Duty Free.

Tatcha opened its first travel retail locations with the operator in the beauty area on the 12th floor of Lotte Duty Free’s Myeongdong flagship store on 3 June 2021. It also commenced operations on the second floor of the retailer’s Jeju downtown duty free outlet on the same day.

In addition, the brand is available to Korean and foreign travellers with international flight schedules through Lotte’s revamped online duty free retail platform.

Headquartered in the US and Japan, Tatcha was founded in 2008 by Vicky Tsai. A portion of every Tatcha purchase supports global education equality through a partnership with Room to Read. This is a leading non-profit organisation for children’s literacy and girls’ education across Asia and Africa.

Tsai said: “After our launch on TMall and at Lane Crawford Hong Kong, we are thrilled to be launching Tatcha in South Korea.

‘MAJOR INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL DESTINATION’

“As a major international travel destination, this launch provides us with the opportunity to continue caring for our global clients wherever they are in the world and for the first time while they are travelling.

“I am particularly excited as this launch will also provide us with the opportunity to care for our wonderful Chinese clients from skin to soul as they travel regionally outside of China, which is a dream come true.”

A curated assortment of Tatcha’s product offerings including its best-sellers are available at both Lotte Duty Free locations.

The new Tatcha counter at Lotte’s Myeongdong store features elements inspired by the Japanese city of Kyoto. Elements include gold leaf, light kiri wood and architectural elements inspired by traditional natsume and jars used in traditional tea ceremonies.

A curated assortment of Tatcha’s product offerings will be available at both Lotte Duty Free locations, including the bestselling The Water Cream and The Dewy Skin Cream, the Luminous Dewy Skin Mist and The Essence Formulated with Hadasei-3TM.

Tatcha products have been available in Lotte flagship Myeongdong downtown duty free store since 3 June.

Crafted through a process of double fermentation, Hadasei-3TM contains essential amino acids and gentle alpha hydroxy acids such as lactic acid. The purpose of these acids is to deliver soft skin at any age.

In addition to South Korea, the Tatcha collection is available globally through select luxury retailers including Sephora in North America and SEA, Lane Crawford in Hong Kong, TMall in Mainland China, Mecca in Australia and New Zealand and at The Four Seasons hotel in Kyoto. Tatcha will continue its Asian expansion throughout 2021.
