The Loop Duty Free at AKL to reopen after being closed for over one year

By Luke Barras-hill |

The Loop Duty Free at Auckland Airport has been shut for almost 13 months.

Aer Rianta International (ARI) will open the doors of The Loop Duty Free store at Auckland Airport (AKL) this coming Monday (19 April) at 12am (local time).

The shop has been non-operational since 19 March after the government ordered the closure of all non-essential outlets to prevent Covid-19 transmissions.

In preparation for the reopening, ARI has implemented relevant safety measures and customers will be greeted by a high-impact ‘Welcome Back’ campaign.

The ARI team has produced a short video (see below) explaining the importance of the reopening.

CONSUMER RESEARCH

Additionally, the travel retailer has undertaken a number of consumer research studies to predict changes to passengers’ expectations while utilising virtual training to upskill and engage staff.

Passengers wishing to save time can avail themselves of the click-and-collect service on ARI Auckland’s award-winning The Loop Duty free website.

Here, they can can shop online up to 90 days before they fly and collect their purchases in-store on departure or arrival.
