Two Chinese winners named in Changi millionaire draw

Singapore Changi Airport yesterday announced two winners in its ninth ‘Be a Changi Millionaire’ annual shopping promotion at the Crowne Plaza hotel.

Chen Rou Jing, 34, won the S$1m ($563,500) grand prize, while Cao Zheng, 24, won a brand-new Jaguar E-Pace SUV.

Fourteen finalists competed for the top prizes in a preliminary game of blindfolded scissors, paper and stone on stage.

After a series of eliminations, a final eight were pitted against each other for the S$1m award, with six contesting the motorcar prize.

Eligibility to enter the ‘Be a Changi Millionaire’ draw was based on a minimum purchase of S$50 ($28) in a single ticket at shopping or dining outlets at the airport.

One lucky finalist was selected each month from May to October 2018 to enter the grand draw, with a further two qualifying via iShopChangi and as Platinum card members of the Changi Rewards loyalty programme.

The car prize finalists were drawn from shoppers making purchases of more than $500 in accumulated spending on a single day.

More than 1.4m entries were received for the latest draw from 212 nationalities. Participants from Singapore, China and Indonesia accounted for the top three groups.

The 10th edition of the draw will be held later this year as part of a year-long rewards campaign.
