Two new WHSmith units land at Adelaide Airport’s main terminal

The two new shops opened on 1 November.

Arriving and departing passengers at Adelaide Airport will encounter locally inspired news, convenience and gifting items after the opening of two new WHSmith sites this month.

The shops play on the city’s sense of place through collaborations with local suppliers to present a varied range of products; from healthy snacks and drinks to confectionery and speciality gifting.

WHSmith says ranges will be constantly refreshed ‘to bring newness and innovation for our regular or less frequent flyers’.

Under the ‘Celebrating Local’ programme featured at both shops, large digital screens will tell the story of local partners, authors, events, organisations and notable South Australian people.

WHSmith’s international business covers more than 580 stores, situated primarily across the globe’s leading airports.

The stores’ design are tailored to reflect the urban chic, style and uniqueness of Adelaide and South Australia, with the shop fascias, colours, materials and textures speaking to the local experience.

Carl Hargrave, Managing Director, WHSmith Australia said: “I’m absolutely delighted WHSmith has been given the opportunity to open two new stores in Adelaide airport; it is indicative of our strong partnership with the Adelaide airport team.

“While we pride ourselves on being one of the leading news, books and convenience retailers in Australia, we constantly look to offer a localised experience in our stores.

“Our new WHSmith Adelaide locations are flagship stores in every respect, from unique concepts, a beautiful store environment and a genuine sense of place.

“We are looking forward to welcoming Adelaide airports passengers to our latest best in class experience in Australian airports.”

Mark Young, Managing Director, Adelaide Airport, added: “We’re excited to see WHSmith’s two new stores opening in Adelaide Airport’s main terminal, signifying another big step forward for our current terminal expansion project due for completion at the end of 2021.

“We’re also delighted to see WHSmith promoting local suppliers, in keeping with our overall theme in the terminal to showcase the best products South Australia has to offer.”

WHSmith’s international business covers more than 580 stores, primarily across the globe’s leading airports.
